North Pole Plunge
The Most Exclusive Swimming Hole on Earth
The North Pole is an imaginary point that floats on the Arctic Ocean at the top of the world. That point is usually covered in pack ice formed over many years. To enable our North Pole adventurers to stand at 90N, our nuclear-powered icebreaker must break ice. Hardy adventurers use the holes created in the ice to plunge into the most exclusive swimming hole on Earth.
Unlike swimmers on beaches in more southerly regions, North Pole swimmers do not lounge about waiting until the summer breezes dry their suits. Arctic summer winds have a distinctly chilling effect. Polar plungers get in and get out - quickly!
50 Years of Victory sails to the North Pole three times in the summer of 2007. Join us for a dip at the top of the world.
