Chef Gunter Walder
Chef Gunter Walder’s contribution to the success of our North Pole expeditions is significant. As Executive Chef aboard 50 Years of Victory he is responsible for preparing everything from gala dinners to barbecues on the ice with menus that are never repeated during a voyage.
When he isn’t aboard Victory Chef can be found in Carinthia, Southern Austria, where he teaches in a vocational school for gastronomy. In his spare time, he gardens, hunts, skis, rides his motorbike and enjoys walking Nordic style.
Chef Gunter grew up on a farm located 1300m (almost a mile) above sea level. Anyone who has partaken of the fare from his galley is thankful he embraced life at sea.
Chef Gunter says, “My aim is to cook as well as possible to satisfy our guests.”
