Bruce Tschampel, Director, Hotel Operations

Bruce caught the Hospitality Industry bug while working in hotels and restaurants to pay for engineering studies at Penn State University. He changed his major graduating with a degree in hotel and restaurant management. Following graduation, he worked in a high-end boutique hotel then as hotel manager aboard a small ship for three years. Bruce met his wife, Melissa, on board; they married and decided to return shore side, where Bruce became general manager for a large hotel company, opening several new hotels. However, he realized he missed working with ships, and returned to the cruise company as director of hotel purchasing in 1998, rising to the position of director of operations.

Bruce joined Quark Expeditions when the company for which he worked merged with the polar specialist. Bruce continued with Quark as Director, Hotel Operations.

Currently based in St. Louis, Bruce and Melissa have two children, Claire and John, who are active travelers and keep Bruce entertained when he’s home.
